About
The GW Writing Center's approach focuses on creating a dialogue between writer and consultant, and collaborating to refine the writer's argument, organization, use of examples, clarity and audience.
The Writing Center is part of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences' University Writing Program, which administers GW's required writing courses. The center services all academic units across the university, including the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Elliott School, medicine and public health schools, College of Professional Studies, business and law schools and more.
In addition to offering virtual sessions out of our central location at Gelman Library in Foggy Bottom, the center operates satellite locations across GW’s campuses. We also employ students as consultants and create resources for faculty and the broader GW writing community.
Mission
The GW Writing Center is an inclusive space serving the GW community. The center cultivates skilled, confident writers by facilitating conversations at all stages of the writing process. Working alongside peer mentors, writers develop strategies to write independently in academic and public settings.
