Online Students: Appointments

Beginning in Fall 2016, all Writing Center distance appointments will be done through the online interface, Zoom. Distance appointments are available ONLY at our main location in Gelman Library - NOT at our satellite locations.

Students enrolled in online programs at GW can schedule distance appointments, using videoconferencing and document sharing through Zoom, in place of a face-to-face meeting. Schedule your appointment through mywconline. We strongly suggest 50-minute appointments, to allow time for setting up the technology.

If you would like to make your appointment a distance appointment, select the "Yes - Zoom" option from the drop down box next to the "Distance-learning students..." question.

Shortly after you sign-up for an appointment, you will be sent a scheduling e-mail through Google Calendar with information on how to connect to your appointment. If you do not receive an e-mail within 24 hours, please check your Spam folder. You can download the Zoom application here or by clicking the icon above.

Zoom’s technology allows you to share documents or your desktop with our consultants while you videoconference, so that you can both make changes in real time! Please have any and all materials you would like to discuss during your appointment available. Additional materials for submission could include notes, draft, assignment prompt, and comments from the professor, as appropriate. Writing is not read in advance.

Please note distance appointments are not available at our Eckles Library (Mount Vernon campus) or Himmelfarb Library (Foggy Bottom) satellite locations.
